2nd Electrian - Technical Officers

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Electro-Technical Team is a small dedicated all-star team whose responsibilities include monitoring all electrical equipment and systems aboard one of our fabulous vessels! This includes power generation, control systems, radio communications, and electronic navigation aids to maximize the operational safety and efficiency of the vessel.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that all aspects of the company's occupational health and safety programs are applied during working activities
  • Update the stock levels of the electrical storeroom and strategic spare parts when requested by superiors, communicate with Storekeeper, and assist in periodical inventories if required.
  • Performing the routine and/or emergency interventions on equipment necessary for the navigation (i.e. Radar, GMDSS) and equipment necessary for the Guest Service (i.e. TV System, Telephone System, Entertainment equipment, etc.)
  • Responsible that the automation system, power generation and electricity management, propulsion system in general, and security systems are in order and in function at all times, under the supervision of SETO
  • Participate in the Engine Control Room duties during manoeuvring in confined waters and approaches, according to the Engine Resource Management (ERM) in case of need, supporting SETO
REQUIREMENTS
  • GRADE 12
  • South African passport
  • Minimum 24-36 months of shipboard experience on a cruise ship as an Electro- Technical officer
  • Electro-Technical Engineer (bachelor's or master's degree) preferred technical training.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathering requirements from the business analyst team.
  • Analyse any new technical requirements within the development team. 
  • Develop and unit test the application using Java/Java 8, REST, Python, JUnit, Cucumber, etc. 
  • Exposure to AI. 
  • Experienced in GitHub, Jenkins, pipeline, agile, SDLC, design methodology, API, TDD 
  • Writing SQL, DB procedures, performance optimisation of the queries and stored procedures. 
  • Sprint planning and attending retrospective calls, as well as daily stand-up calls for the agile scrum process.
  • Review the JIRA and acceptance criteria for any task planned. For the sprint with the team. 
  • Discussion with QA team for any QA/UAT release and discuss the test plans.
SKILLS
  • A minimum of five years' experience in the industry is required. 
  • Essential experience in designing and developing web-based applications using Java/J2EE. 
  • Strong experience applying OOP principles and understanding data structure concepts. 
  • Good understanding of the API lifecycle and hands-on experience with API development using Spring Boot.
  • Understanding API abstraction, layered approach, orchestration, and data transformation concepts. ●
  • Hands-on experience using Spring, MVC, Spring Integration, Hibernate, and web services. 
  • Understanding automated build and deployment processes (e.g., Jenkins CI, Apache Maven, Gradle).
  • Familiarity with tools such as JUnit, Sonar, Jenkins, SVN, Chef, Puppet, Nolio, Selenium, QTP, Asana, Jira, or Rally. 
  • Good understanding of cluster components for deploying services and APIs onto aPaaS, with knowledge of NoSQL databases and KAFKA (API data publication). 
  • Experience using modern Java IDE tools such as IntelliJ or NetBeans, with familiarity in using the Agile Scrum process model to deliver business value.

Stateroom Attendant

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Stateroom Attendant on a cruise line, you will be responsible for ensuring that guest staterooms are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and presentation. You will provide exceptional service to guests, addressing their needs and ensuring a pleasant and enjoyable stay. This role involves both regular cleaning duties and guest interactions, requiring attention to detail, professionalism, and a positive attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Transports the luggage to assigned areas during boarding and introduce themselves to all guests in their assigned station including duty hours and other available room services.
  • Provides personal assistance to guests aiming to exceed their expectations by following The Royal Way. Maintains current knowledge of the ship’s regular events and special functions by reviewing all available data, (daily Compass, etc.), in order to provide guests with accurate information to answer questions. 
  • Follows all daily, weekly and monthly stateroom and corridor cleaning procedures to ensure The Royal Way are met. 
  • Makes beds and changes towels according to the Save the Waves program. Cleans bathrooms and replenishes bathroom supplies. Cleans showers/bathtubs (and change shower curtains where applicable), sinks and toilet bowl. Follows daily, weekly and monthly morning and evening Cleaning Highlights and Must-do's 
  • Cleans carpet, upholstery, floors, walls, ceilings, draperies, windows, and room accessories to remove effects of smoke, water and other damage such as dirt, soot, stains, mildew, and excess water and moisture. Sweeps, scrubs and vacuums. 
  • Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses, ice, soap, amenities, and stationary supplies.
  •  Dusts furniture, Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. Washes windows and door panels. 
  • Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays (in balcony staterooms only).. Segregates and removes trash and garbage and places it in designated containers. 
  • Receives guest’s laundry and dry cleaning and transports to laundry area for processing. Collects guests' laundry and delivers back to guests' stateroom as per the required time. 
  • Ensures all dirty linen items are properly separated into the dirty linen bags and cleaning rags are placed into a separate bag. Any stained items are further separated ready for collection by the linen keeper assistants. All bags must be closed with the drawstring once full and not overflowing.
  •  Report all malfunction of lighting, heating and ventilation equipment and all other maintenance issues by dialling 1-800 for effective repairs to be carried. Follow up to ensure repairs are carried out in a timely manner and involves Housekeeping Management when there is delay in the completion process. 
  • Maintains cleaning supplies and equipment in good working order. Inform Deck Supervisors of any supply replenishment required or of any equipment malfunction when needed.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience, preferably in a 4- or 5-star hotel.
