JOB DESCRIPTION

The Purser is responsible for overseeing the administrative and financial operations onboard a ship, including guest services, accounting, and administrative tasks. The role involves ensuring efficient handling of financial transactions, managing guest inquiries and requests, and supporting the overall smooth operation of the ship’s hotel department.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the reception desk, including checking in and out guests, handling reservations, and addressing guest inquiries and complaints.
  • Oversee billing procedures, including processing payments, managing guest accounts, and handling transactions accurately.
  • Maintain accurate records of guest accounts, transactions, and financial documents.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., housekeeping, food and beverage, security) to ensure smooth operations and address any guest-related issues.
  • Manage inventory and supplies for the purser’s office, including office supplies and guest-related items.
REQUIREMENTS
  • GRADE 12
  • South African passport
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
