JOB DESCRIPTION

The Junior Commis Cook is an entry-level position within the kitchen, responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. This role is designed to provide foundational culinary experience and support senior kitchen staff in delivering high-quality dishes. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring. 
  • Support the Chef de Partie or other senior cooks with their station tasks. 
  • Assist with plating dishes according to the restaurant’s presentation standards.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene practices, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions from senior kitchen staff.
REQUIREMENTS
  • GRADE 12
  • South African passport
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience
