Horticulturist(Gardens and Grounds Manager)

JOB DESCRIPTION

A horticulturist specializes in the cultivation, propagation, and management of plants, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamental plants. They apply their knowledge of plant biology, soil science, and environmental conditions to improve plant growth, enhance crop yields, and develop sustainable gardening practices.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Select appropriate plants for various climates and environments.
• Design and implement planting plans and schedules.
• Identify pests and diseases affecting plants and develop integrated pest management strategies. 
• Conduct experiments to improve plant varieties and cultivation methods. 
• Promote sustainable horticultural practices, including organic gardening and water conservation. 
• Maintain records of plant growth, treatments, and outcomes. 

REQUIREMENTS

•  GRADE 12
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a luxury establishment
• Qualification in horticulture or related field
