JOB DESCRIPTION
The Commis Chef is a junior member of the kitchen brigade, assisting in the preparation and cooking of meals under the guidance of senior chefs. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the ship’s kitchen and delivering high-quality dishes to passengers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning.
- Ensure that food is prepared according to recipes and standards set by the chef to maintain consistency in taste and presentation.

Execute cooking tasks as directed, including grilling, frying, baking, and sautéing.
- Provide assistance to Chef de Partie or other senior chefs in various tasks as required, including plating and garnishing dishes.
- Support the cooking process by performing tasks such as sautéing, grilling, and frying under the direction of senior chefs.
REQUIREMENTS
- GRADE 12
- South African passport
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Qualification in Hospitality
