JOB DESCRIPTION

The Baker on a cruise line is responsible for creating a wide variety of baked goods and pastries for guests on board. This role requires a combination of baking expertise, creativity, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment. The Baker will work closely with other culinary staff to ensure the highest standards of quality and presentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and bake a variety of bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked goods according to recipes and standards. 
  • Adhere to all cruise line policies and procedures, including those related to hygiene, safety, and service excellence. 
  • Work effectively with other culinary team members to coordinate preparation and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the baking area, including regular cleaning of equipment and work surfaces.
  • Monitor the quality of all baked products to ensure consistency, taste, and presentation.
REQUIREMENTS
  • GRADE 12
  • Degree in Hospitality
  • South African passport
  • Proven experience as a baker in a commercial kitchen; cruise line or high-volume restaurant experience is an advantage.
